Craftsbury Mental Health Suicide Awareness Walk

Date: Sunday, October 9, 2022

Time: 1 PM

Where: Craftsbury Common

This year the Craftsbury Mental Health Resource Group is supporting our own Craftsbury Suicide Awareness Walk. Last year we raised $6,000 for Nami (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the previous year we raised $3,800 for AFSP (American Foundation of Suicide Prevention). This year, we are giving walkers an option on which organization they want their donations to go to. Walkers can ask for supporters to either donate to Nami, AFSP or the Craftsbury Mental Health Resource Fund. Once all the online funds are in, we will send a check to both Nami and AFSP for their donations. If supporters want to give a check, they can write it out to the specific organization. The choice is yours!

Donate Online to Craftsbury Mental Health Fund
  • This year, the Craftsbury Mental Health Resource Group would love to match the $2,000 ARPA grant they have applied for. If you chose the Craftsbury Mental Health Fund, we will put it toward purchasing books in the libraries and schools to promote mental health plus offering training in Craftsbury on mental health.

Donate Online to AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention)
  • AFSP (American Foundation of Suicide Prevention)
raises awareness and funds scientific research and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide. Donations are used to support resources and programming in our Vermont communities.

Donate Online to Nami (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
  • NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is dedicated to improving the lives of millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Your gift helps support NAMI’s ongoing awareness, education and advocacy efforts, including initiatives such as expanding NAMI HelpLine’s hours and services; advocating for a better crisis response system; developing resources for youth and young adults; and updating our educational materials to better address the needs of underrepresented communities.

We will be meeting on the Common Sunday, October 9th at 1 PM for the Walk. We will first register for the walk, have a few speakers, join in a circle then walk around the Common. We would love people to walk along with us. Refreshments will be provided by the United Church of Craftsbury.

It will also be Wesly's birthday, please us help honor Wesly's memory on this special day and all those we have lost to suicide in our community.
