It's planning to rain on the Light Up The Night Festival Parade! We have postponed the event to Sunday evening, Dec. 15th . Floats will gather at Dustin Field at 5:30. Friends and family who want to help decorate the tree will gather at the gazebo, also at 5:30. PARADE at 6:00! Bonfires and refreshments will follow.
The Rusty Dewees show will go on as scheduled December 14th @ 6:00.
The Craftsbury Recreation Committee (CRC) has partnered with local celebrity Rusty Dewees (The Logger). For a big Christmas comedy and music show to raise money. This will take place on December 14th on Craftsbury Common Featuring the local color of the one and only Rusty Dewees followed by the Craftsbury Recreation Committee's 2nd Annual Light up the Night Festival on the Common. Some of you may not know how much time Rusty dedicates to causes he cares about. Especially those that impact positive impacts on students' lives. Within our own school communities Rusty has donated time to a career day at Craftsbury Academy where he talked to students about following their passion. Becoming that positive influence on their community and overall making a difference. Along with partnering with the CRC, Rusty has also partnered with the OSSU REACH after school program. As you can see Rusty steps up and does his part to make an impact on the lives of young people. Now it is your opportunity to step up and help Rusty and the CRC in this effort to raise money for our ever expanding activities in Craftsbury.
The CRC plans events so people in our town and surrounding towns can have access to opportunities and enriching activities at little or no cost to families. While the CRC plans several events throughout the year, our longest running event is Craftsbury Old home day which is soon to celebrate its 100 year anniversary. At Old Home Day the CRC has games snacks bounce houses and barrel train rides for very little cost with a goal of just breaking even with this event. Easter egg hunts for the children in town, this comes out of our committee funds. Halloween we do a trunk or treat on the beautiful Craftsbury Common were we have so many cars that come and decorate their cars. At this event the FIre Department is so wonderful as they light up the common and the kids 150+ come get treats in a safe place and parents love it because they don't need to drive from house to house.
Last year we started a new event and it turned out to be our biggest and most talked about for many months is our Light Up the Night Festival. This is a night where people can watch a parade at night around a snow-covered Craftsbury Common! Local businesses and school classes decorated a float, car, truck bed in lights and after the parade ended everyone could walk through all the floats with their lights twinkling up close. All the while they could have hot chocolate cookies and donuts all for free. We had 15 floats go around the common twice and expecting more floats and people this year.
As we stated earlier we will be holding this event on December 14th. Rusty Dewees (The Logger) will headline the night's events with a show starting 6:00 in the Craftsbury Academy Gym
