Ukrainian Egg Decorating/Pysanky
Please join us at the Craftsbury Public Library Friday April 15th to learn about and practice Pysanky or Ukrainian egg decorating. This traditional art form is rich in design, symbolism and bursting with color. The library has new books that highlight the history, and the techniques used in the craft. Pysanky celebrates springtime, renewal of nature and life. In solidarity with Ukrainian people and Ukrainian culture, this event is a way to gather and deepen our understanding of a traditional art form that is shared, beloved and continuing. This event is free and suitable for ages 8 and up. The library will supply the eggs, dyes, wax and has a handful of Kistkas, the writing tool used in making Pysanky.
