Craftsbury Marathon at COC

  • Craftsbury Outdoor Center 535 Lost Nation Road Craftsbury Common, VT 05827 (map)

The Craftsbury Outdoor Center and Craftsbury Ski Club support participants registering in whatever gender category they so choose.

The Marathon Ski Festival is back for another fantastic weekend of cross country ski racing. After last year's overlap with the SuperTour, 2025 returns the Festival to a stand-alone popular racing event, with techniques and distances for racers of all ages and abilities. Saturday brings the traditional classic Craftsbury Marathon, with short and long course options for open, college, and high school racers and a short course tour for BKL skiers and chaperones. We are not currently specifying distance because we don't know what loop will be available in January. We are hoping to get a 20+ kilometer loop, allowing for a ~40-50km long race and a ~20-25km short race.

Registration

First up, we're trying things with registration a little differently for this year's Craftsbury Marathon. Instead of having separate categories for each gender and distance, we are having 4 broad categories each day within which skiers can specify their race distance for Saturday's event and their gender (if so desired).

Race Format

Saturday's classic race, the traditional Craftsbury Marathon, will have short and long course options. We are hoping to have a course that allows for 1 or 2 lap events (though that has proved challenging in recent years). Starts will be similar to recent years with all women's distances starting first, followed by all the men's distances 15 minutes later, and then BKL skiers and chaperones taking up the rear, another 5 minutes back from the men's start.
