Solar Eclipse Viewing on the Common

  • On the Common Craftsbury Common, VT 05827 (map)

Total solar eclipses are rare events - any one location on Earth can expect to see one every 300 years or so. And one is coming to Vermont this spring!   Craftsbury will be in the Path of Totality for the Solar Eclipse happening on Monday, April 8 and everyone is invited to an eclipse viewing party on the Common from 2-4pm.  Please follow the signs for free parking at Dustan Field so we can keep the Common passable.

We’ve had lots of snow, so be prepared for mud!

There will be free eclipse glasses for the first 100 participants and a solar telescope projecting this rare celestial event, and there will be a Storywalk of A Few Beautiful Minutes about the solar eclipse set up around the Common.  In the event of inclement weather, there will be a livestream of the eclipse on the big screen inside the library.  The Craftsbury PTO will be selling snacks while supplies last.
